Light a Candle... I have done it

Mumbai rocked on 11/26 and still being haunted......., is this India's 9/11? we are seeing an act of war as done on 9/11 in US. Foreigners across the border have breached the nation and this time its not through snowy mountains or jungle/desert but through the coastal waters of India's biggest, financial capital, supposedly most secure city... "Mumbai".

I won't get into further details as all the leading newspapers, news channels across the globe are covering this....... "now its all about blood flowing down the lanes of mumbai".

So i decided not to write big big blogs, cover the same stories, news etc, all this is available on newspapers, tv channels, internet etc.... i thought of lighting few candles in the memories of those who have lost their lives and for those who are fighting against these maniacs........

hope to see the sun rising soon from these dark clouds which have overcasted mumbai and for the cyclone which has hit coastal area of tamil nadu badly.......

Then and Now....

Changes happen when we grow old and move ahead in life. Sometime for good and sometime for bad.

During school/college days, all that I had in my life was music, friends, don't care attitude and best part was least concerned about the things running in and around my life. Only things concerned (running in my mind/heart) were friends, music, fun.... fullto time pass..... and how can I forget the crushes I had on my school teachers (still cannot forget my chemistry and physics teacher), college professor (obviously lady professor yaar) and the few hot, good looking babes of my college, yet another best part was bunking the college and end up either in cinema or the all time hangout place.

Those used to be the days when I didn't had to worry about anything especially "whats there for me the next day" or "what would my career graph look like"...etc. And now, me and most of my friends are married, trying to maintain the work life balance. Any free time earlier was definitely spent in chilling out or following the college girl(s) drop them to house....etc, now any free time available what comes first in mind is my house, my family, my career which has topped the priority chart and things like music...etc have climb down.

I wish there was an option available to go back to the old days and get carefree again but as we grow old we intend to forget so many things, become damn serious in life towards our family responsibilities.

And Now.... my house is my chill out place, my family is my favorite time pass, I am able plot the points on the life graph for my career.

Otherside of 21st Century Healthcare

One of my friend recently met with an accident and was getting medical care at one of the good hospitals of bangalore... "Columbia Asia". He got so impressed with the facilities, hygiene...etc that he wrote a blog on it. He titled it as 21st Century Healthcare..... (read yourself.... I too got impressed by the blog as well as the facilities provided in the hospital).

But there is always the other side which shows exactly the opposite of what is being offered by A grade hospital...... other side of the "21st century health care" shows something else.

Few days back in NDTV news channel, revealed the reality of a hospital in Nation's Capital "New Delhi" Lok Nayak Jai Prakash hospital. Where three out of 10 babies born die. As per this report, the number of infant deaths is 10% higher than the national average. Many more things were revealed in this report by NDTV, read it.

Another incident reported by NDTV, a new born baby was in the incubator and there was a short cricut which led to fire and the baby got 80% burnt and while transferring the baby to a more reputed and highly equiped hospital, the baby died..... these are the facilities a hospital offers to the patients.

What is the purpose of a health care/hospital? A medical institution where sick or injured people are given medical or surgical care, correct. People go to hospital to get themselves treated, come off it healthy, cured. But the reality says... in 21st century, the purpose of hospital isn't to cure a patient but the earn money, get rich as soon as possible. Treat the person not as a medical patient but as "bakra" who unfortunately landed in the such kind of hospitals.

I am sure there would be lots of such incidents across India rather across the globe which we aren't aware. Should such hospital be closed by Govt or people should stop going there?

Just Imagine...What if

"What if" Scenario is most popular with every individual whether its a living thing or a non living thing (don't ask me how its applicable to non living things). Best example I can think of is from a movie named "...." where Johny Lever all the time say "agar asia ho jata toh..... (mayo)".

Actually this idea of writing a blog on "Just Imagine...." came to my mind while I was driving back to home from my office few days back. I asked myself one question..... "Just imagine" If IT wasn't there at all...., what would have you being doing to survive. And trust me just one question led to many question into my mind.. few of them were like... no computers so no technological advancement for a country (APJ Abdul kalam wouldn't have got missiles), would there have be such an inflation reaching 12%?, none of the car's would have that 32bit microchip?.............etc etc.

The best part of this dream was.... bangalore wouldn't have been named as Silicon Valley of India leading to no traffic jam, none of us would have lots the patience "if" some one had violated the driving rules or jumped signal or for that matter didn't follow the lane discipline.

And Guess what, this is what I got answers from few of my friends and colleagues "Just Imagine IT wasn't there"......

- I would be under a car...tightening the screw

- Would have being selling garments (khacha baniyan....)

- Would be running a stable (definitely not of horses but of Cow & Buffalos) and selling milk

- Don't know.... yaar... seriously cannot think of anything else at this point of time.

There were many more answers to this "just imagine" situation... starting from best, good to worst to most weird answers. Trust me.... we people have got amazing thinking power.

This is one of the situation of Just Imagine... I am sure we can have numerous situations for Just Imagine.... last but not the least... Don't stop imagining..... a famous quote says "if you stare at female's assets for more than 5mins.... it keeps you healthy..... Just Imagine...!!! ".

It has done it again---Golmaal Returns

All those who claim to be God’s gift to intelligence should not watch this movie, u don’t require even a iota of brain to enjoy this movie and god forbid u do apply ur brains then forget it, u wouldn’t like the movie at all. I haven’t seen Golmaal so this review is a stand alone of Golmaal Returns, not overshadowed by the first movie.

Kareena Kapoor is named Ekta in this movie and she loves to watch all saas bahu serials, Tushar Kapoor plays her bother, Ajay Devgan is Etka’s husband, Amrita Arora is Ajay Devgan’s sister, Arshad is Amrita Arora’s love interest and also a police inspector who doesn’t like Ajay Devgan, Anjana Sukhani is Tushar Kapoor’s love interest (they are made of each other, Tushar can’t speak, anjana can’t hear), Shreyas is Ajay Devgan’s saving grace through out the movie and Celina is his love interest. ……. Too many people I say……… there are few more but not worth mentioning…………..

What makes the plot of the movie is that, Ajay Devgan spends a night with Celina on a yacht after saving her from goondas, doing nothing but claiming a lot things (typical male) and that same night one of his employee is murdered , the police wants to nail him for the murder, Ajay Devgan now has to find a alibi without telling the truth cause if does that Kareen Kapoor (his saas bahu biwi) would kill him………….. so starts the merry go round of lies, truths then lies again then truth………..

Rohit Shetty (director) included spoofs of movies like, Saawariya (called Baawariya in the movie), Om Shanti Om (called Home Shanti Home) , Rani Mukherjee (called munni).

There are lots of double meaning jokes, so people plz don’t watch this movie with ur parents or ur siblings, but a mast watch with friends, u would laugh and laugh and laugh.

Total meaning less, making no sense, Tushar Kapoor plays his character the best and his facial expressions are really worth laughing on. Comedy timing of Arshad and Kareena is also good.

There is nothing much to write, cause it doesn’t have any story line, only spoofs and comedy, so I do recommend that u watch this movie, but go without any expectations, cause I have heard that the first part “Golmaal” was better than this one, but taking this movie stand alone, I think it’s neat.

Movie Fact:- Golmaal Returns has created history by collecting a circuit record for the first day. It has surpassed the first day totals of Om Shanti Om and Singh Is Kinng by collecting 22.03 lakhs on day one.

Fashion - Ups n Downs

The movie starts with Priyanka Chopra (PC) trying to convince her dad she can become a super model and for that she needs to go to Mumbai. Her dad doesn’t agree (no surprise) but mom is full supportive. So PC leaves the comfort of her home and goes to Mumbai to join the big bad world of fashion. There are 2 stories running at the same time, one of PC as a struggler and one of Kangna Ranaut (KR) who is already at the top and her down fall. Both these stories cross eachother, when PC replaces KR as the new face of fashion. Then starts the downfall of PC and KR trying to regain her balance, but ends up committing suicide by drug overdose. So basically, it’s the story about 2 models and their ups and downs.

The cast of the movie is quite strong with Arjan Bajwa, Mugdha Godse, Arbaaz Khan, Harsh Chhaya, Sameer Soni, Kangna Ranaut and Kitu Gidwani playing their character with full dedication. Kitu Gidwani has done an amazing role as the head of a modeling agency through which she launches Kangna Ranaut and then replaces her with PC and then replaces PC with yet another girl. But all this is done under the guidance of her boss – Arbaaz Khan (roles where Arbaaz doesn’t have to talk much do suit him). Komal Chotalla (of Chak De fame) is a surprise in the movie, she plays the role of a model pimp, meaning that she sends struggling models on various modeling assignments. She is the god mother of strugglers.

I think there is much more to the fashion world than what Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar has shown, yes there were passing references to dresses been picked up from Bangkok and passed under a designer label, designers blaming other of robbing their ideas. Other than that there is nothing much about fashion, but a lot more about models.

Don’t get me wrong, the movie is good, but shouldn’t be titled “Fashion”. One thing that I really like about Mr. Bhandarkar is that he shows the reality, people who are manipulating the system go Scot free and those who try to oppose them pay a very heavy price, that is the reality of today’s system and Bhandarkar integrates it in his movie beautifully.

The music of the movie is really good and the back ground score is really neat. Especially, the score which plays while the fashion shows are going on. The costumes of the movie are ok ok, I think Mr. Bhandarkar has down played this aspect to suit the Indian audiences.

Kangna is the surprise element in the movie, she plays her character with so much energy that not even once does it feel that she is acting. The most controversial scene of the movie, when Kangna Ranuat’s top falls off is played beautifully, the emotions displayed by Kangna really touch u and even I felt sorry of her. PC could have experimented with her looks; she has the same boring look through out the movie, even though she claims that her looks have changed 5 times during the movie. But to me she has the same run of the mill look (anyone could have played her role, Shilpa Shetty, etc ). She could be sported a wacky hairstyle or totally freaky dressing style, but she plays it safe and because of which the one person who totally stands out in the movie is Kangna Ranaut.

In the end PC and KR become friends, and PC tries to regain her position in the fashion world. In the climax of the movie, PC is just about the walk the ramp (her relaunch) when she gets the news that KR has committed suicide by taking drug overdose. But she walks the ramp proud, telling us that there is no place for personal emotions when it comes to fashion world and the show must go on……………

My Rating:- 2 ½ C

Thank God it wasn't real

As usual, it was a Sunday morning, we thought of having breakfast at Balaji (darshani hotel) near our home. After parking our car, we stepped in at Balaji, ordered Idly and Dosa. After a while we got our order served (though its a self service hotel).... hot, yummy idly and crispy dosa with hot sambar and little chuttney.... the smell of dosa, samabar was actually tempting us to bounce on it.... hehee

We started having the breakfast and while having it... i could see the my car parked across the road... All of a sudden I see some on inside my car, that guy reversed the car, brought down the window, waved at me with a smile and drove away.... i shouted and my wife said what happened. Didn't you see what I saw a minute back... she said what... our car has been droven away by some one in other words has been stolen in daylight... She smiled and said,.... its still parked there...

And the car was really there, where I had parked. Thank God it was just a dream.... and not reality.
